About Me

I originally grew up in Puyallup, WA. After completing my education, I worked for Intel Corporation in the "silicon forest" of Hillsboro, OR as a process engineer. Five years later and ready to start a family, my wife and I moved to her homestate of Montana where I am now a part-time teacher and a stay-at-home dad to a wonderful son who is just about 18months old.

I enjoy hiking, snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, fly fishing, fly tying, and just about anything that involves being outside in Big Sky Country.

I stumbled across metal detecting when I was younger (about 10yrs old). My parents got me a good ol' Radioshack type detector with an analog readout (the fluctuating needle). The only venture I remember was going to a old man's property outside of the fairgrounds. I got a lot of modern coins and even remember coming across a large sheet of aluminum that my dad and I could not completely unearth because it was so big! It was quite fun and I still have it as a great memory.

Fast forward to the present and somehow a discussion my dad and I were having ended up bringing up the topic of those early metal detecting days. This rekindled my interest in the hobby and I researched not only the hobby but also metal how metal detectors themselves have changed. The very microprocessors I had help make were now incorporated into the electronics of detectors. After all the research into what detector would work for me, I guess you could say the rest is history.

  1. Going to be in Great Falls in November and was wondering if I should bring my detector with me or will the ground be too solid by then? Coming from CT and will be there for 2 weeks. Need a partner to go out with; hit me up at calsetta@att.net. Thanks, Daryn
